Ashton Lodge Nursing Home Frequently Asked Questions

  • What activities do we provide?
Here at Ashton Lodge we pride ourselves on the range of activities available to all our residents. The home has Activities Coordinators on each unit who produce a programme of events such as local attractions, crafts, quizzes, reminiscence groups, movie afternoons, games, exercise sessions and themed activities throughout the year which are designed to be enjoyable and stimulating. For those residents who choose to stay in the comfort of their own room, the Activities Coordinator visits them if they wish.
  • Do we use agency nurses?
No we cover all the shifts with staff employed by Ashton Lodge.
  • What are the visiting times?
Families and friends are welcome and encouraged to visit any time.
  • If I don't like what is on the menu is there an alternative?
Yes always. Menus are displayed daily and a member of staff asks what choice each resident would prefer that day. If a resident states they do not like the menu choices of the day the staff will inform the chefs, who will be more than happy to prepare an alternative meal.
  • Is hairdressing and chiropody provided?
Yes, we have 2 hairdressers who visit Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and provide a professional service in our on-site salon at a very reasonable cost. We have a private chiropodist who visits the home monthly or we can make a referral to the NHS services, though there can be a lengthy wait for this service.
  • What happens next? (After the viewing of the Home?)
If you decide Ashton Lodge is the home for you or your loved one, one of our trained nurses would visit them and carry out a thorough pre-admission assessment. The purpose of this is to ensure we can meet all their needs. Once we have completed this assessment we then contact you and inform you of the outcome.
